Franklin Park Auxiliary aids homeless Veterans

The Franklin Park American Legion Auxiliary Unit 974 hosted its 6th annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans on January 22, 2023. The post provided toiletries, a hot meal, clothing, blankets and haircuts, as well as a chance to speak with representatives from Veteran service organizations and other groups about VA benefits, housing, transportation and other services. Members of the National Guard from 710th MCAS attended and spoke about their military experiences and current needs. The entire Legion Family of 974 comes together every year to present this opportunity for those who served our country and now find themselves in great need of housing and other services. This year, more than 55 veterans attended the event, held at the Franklin Park American Legion Post.
