PACT Act passage triggers wave of fraud

With the passage of the PACT Act, Congress launched the biggest expansion of Veteran benefits in history, with many additional Veterans being eligible to receive compensation for their service. The act added more than 20 toxic exposure-related conditions to the VA’s list of service presumptions and expanded Agent Orange exposure to include several additional Asian nations. While this legislation brings great promise to Veterans, it’s also a monumental opportunity for fraud. VA has received multiple reports of unaccredited law firms or companies that are charging exorbitant fees to help Veterans file claims for presumptive conditions.
