The Italian American Veterans Museum is on the march!

After nearly two decades at Casa Italia, the Italian American Veterans Museum will be bidding a fond farewell to our longtime home and marching confidently toward a promising future. As we embark on this bold new adventure, we’re going to need your support like never before.

We’re calling on supporters past and future to give as generously as you can to help us defray the cost of the move.

Once we’ve pinned down a location and drawn up plans for our new space, we’ll be launching a broader-based capital development campaign.

Casa Italia has been our home since we opened our doors in 2006, but as many of you know, the religious order that owned the property has sold it to the village of Stone Park to be converted to a variety of public uses.

That’s great news for the Casa, which will remain on the grounds with a much smaller footprint and far fewer responsibilities and expenses. And though the move closes one door for our museum, it opens a whole new world of possibilities.

The building we occupy will be shuttered at the end of the year, but by then we’ll be well on our way to a new home. We’ve narrowed our search to a few options, with a final decision due by mid-December.

Our exhibits and archives will be packed and ready to go by Dec. 31. Once everything is unpacked, we’ll reach out to those of you who have placed items in our care to share our plans and to field your input.

In the meantime, we’d like to invite all our supporters to an open house on Dec. 7 and 8. (See the flyer below for details.) You’ll be able to enjoy fine Italian wine, light refreshments and a Big Band soundtrack as you revel in our museum one last time at our current location.

We look forward to working with you to build s bright future for our beloved museum.

Respectfully yours,

Joseph E. Troiani, Ph.D.
Commander, U.S. Navy (retired)
President, Italian American Veterans Museum
